On April 23rd, 2024, Council enacted and passed an update to the Miscellaneous Fees and Charges By-law. This by-law establishes updates to recreation and facility rental rates and fees which come into effect as of May 1st, 2024.

This is the first update to facility rental rates and recreation fees since before the pandemic.

Since emerging from the pandemic, the Township has kept fees static as we remained focused on welcoming participants back to our programs and facilities. During this time, the Township has been faced with increasing costs to operate facilities and deliver programs. As such, the Township participated in a rate review which compared facility rental rates and recreation fees in municipalities throughout Ontario. Through this review, a number of updates were made to the fees and charges by-law to align with comparable municipalities.

Highlights from the updated by-law:

  • The updated by-law establishes new rate categories for commercial, non-resident, resident, child/youth, and for not-for-profit organizations.
  • A capital improvement fee of 5% has been set in 2024 to support facility infrastructure. These fees will be allocated to a reserve fund for future capital improvements to Township facilities.
  • A non-resident fee, which applies to both registered programs and rentals, has been included in the updated rate structure.
  • Registered program rates continue to be set based on the cost of materials, facilities, staffing and any licensing/certification fees that apply.

The updated Miscellaneous Fees and Charges By-law can be found on the Township website
