Temporary Road Closure – Dr. Richard James Cres., Pearce St. & County Rd. 6

Please be advised of a road closure and removal of the temporary access road to Dr. Richard James Cres. and Pearce St. from County Rd. 6. Dr. Richard James Cres. and Pearce St. will be extended and permanent access will ultimately be via Walden Pond Dr.

The closure will begin tomorrow (Wednesday, Aug. 17th). Construction is expected to conclude by early November. Updates will be posted when available.

Jim Hegadorn Unanimously Appointed to the Office of Mayor for Remainder of Term

On Monday, August 8th, Loyalist Township Council unanimously appointed Deputy Mayor Jim Hegadorn to the Office of Mayor for the remainder of the 2018-2022 term. Hegadorn has served as Deputy Mayor since 2018 and was first elected to Council in 2010. Before being elected to Council, he served on the Cemeteries Committee and Police Services Board since 2003.

Notice of Construction - Front Road, Amherst Island

Loyalist Township Staff have started and will be completing various road works along Front Road, Amherst Island. The affected section of road is from Civic #4950 to #3580 Front Rd (Below, highlighted in yellow is the planned work area). Work is scheduled to commence throughout the month of August and into September 2022. The road is to be resurfaced again sometime next year (2023).

Flags Lowered for Former Councillor

Flags at Loyalist Township facilities have been lowered in memory of former councillor Carl Bresee.

Bresee, who was 73 years old, served on Council from 1991 to 2010.

Loyalist Township would like to pass along sympathies to Carl's family.

Council declared the office of Mayor to be vacant on June 27, 2022 by resolution No. 2022.68.6.
