Official Plan
Loyalist Township's Official Plan
The Official Plan (OP) is the policy structure we use to manage and direct physical planning and development in Loyalist Township. The plan outlines the Township's goals and objectives, states our policies, and says how we're going to achieve our goals by following our policies. The Township's Official Plan guides how the municipality will grow and develop until 2036.
The OP describes the type of growth and land use changes that are allowed in Loyalist, which allows for public and private investment. It brings in components that are important locally, as well as including Provincial Policy Statements.
Our staff and Council recognize that physical planning doesn't happen in a bubble. It needs to make sense for the Township's social needs, economic needs, financial capabilities, environmental considerations, and natural resources. For that reason, the OP is much more than a set of land use controls.
