Code of Conduct
It is expected that those elected to Council and appointed to local boards and committees in the municipality carry out their duties in a fair, impartial, transparent and professional manner. A written Code of Conduct helps to ensure a standard of acceptable behaviour is met and those elected or appointed are held accountable. All members of council, appointees to local boards and advisory committees are required to follow the Code of Conduct while serving in the public capacity.
The Municipal Act, 2001 requires all municipalities in Ontario to establish a code of conduct for members of council of the municipality and its local boards. Loyalist Township has a Code of Conduct for its members of Council and local boards, adopting it's most recent versions by By-law 2019-014.
