Noise By-Law Exemptions

Noise is regulated in Loyalist Township by the Township's Noise By-law. The by-law includes both general restrictions on specific types of noise as well as time-based restrictions for certain activities.

Below you will find information of certain activities which have received an exemption from the Noise By-Law, the address, date of approval, and other general information.

Noise Exemptions

Gravelfest and Voodoo Rockfest - 795 Wing Road, Odessa

The Township has granted Gravelfest and Voodoo Rockfest an exemption to the Noise By-law on the following days and times:

Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday, June 21, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.; and
Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 6 p.m to 9 p.m.
Friday, August 9, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Gravelfest and Voodoo Rockfest will take place at 795 Wing Road in Odessa. The exemption permits the operation of any electronic device or group of connected electronic devices incorporating one or more loudspeakers or other electro mechanical transducers, and intended for the production, reproduction or amplification of sound.

Umicore Battery Materials Inc - 5218 Taylor Kidd Boulevard, Bath

Effective from Tuesday, January 9 to July 2, 2024, the Township has granted Umicore Battery Materials Inc. at 5218 Taylor Kidd Boulevard in Bath an exemption to the Noise By-Law from 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily and on Sundays and holidays.

Effective July 2, 2024 to January 2, 2025, the Township has granted Umicore Battery Materials Inc. at 5218 Taylor Kidd Boulevard in Bath an exemption to the Noise By-Law at all times daily and on Sundays and holidays.

The exemption relates to the following activities:

Loading, unloading, delivering, packing, unpacking, or otherwise handling any containers, products, materials, or refuse whatsoever, unless necessary for the maintenance of essential services or the moving of private household effects
The operation of any equipment in connection with construction

Hot2Trot Stables - 1003 Lucas Road, Odessa

The Township has granted Hot2Trot Stables an exemption to the Noise By-law under Activity 1, 2 and 15 of Schedule 2, for the following days and times:

July 5 at 12 p.m. to July 6 at 12:30 a.m
July 6 at 8 a.m. to July 7 at 12:30 a.m.
July 7 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
July 26 at 12 p.m. to July 27 at 12:30 a.m.
July 27 at 8 a.m. to July 28 at 12:30 a.m.
July 28 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
September 6 at 12 p.m. to September 7 at 12:30 a.m.
September 7 at 8 a.m. to September 9 at 12:30 a.m.
September 8 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
September 27 at 12 p.m. to September 28 at 12:30 a.m.
September 28 at 8 a.m. to September 29 at 12:30 a.m.
September 29 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Hot2Trot Stables is located at 1003 Lucas Road in Odessa. The exemption relates to the following activities:

The operation of any auditory signalling device, including but not limited to the ringing of bells or gongs or the blowing of horns or sirens or whistles, or the production, reproduction or amplification of any similar sounds by electronic means except where required or authorized by law or in accordance with good safety practices
The operation of any electronic device or group of connected electronic devices incorporating one or more loudspeakers or other electro mechanical transducers, and intended for the production, reproduction or amplification of sound
Persistent yelling, shouting, hooting, whistling or singing

GIP Paving Inc. - County Road 6 & County Road 23

The Township has granted GIP Paving Inc. an exemption to the Noise By-law under Schedule 2, Activity 5, on the following dates:

July 15 to July 19 for sanitary main installing across County Road 6, immediately South of County Road 23
August 19 to 30 for multi-plate culvert across County Road 6, immediately North of County Road 23 and across County Road 23, immediately West of County Road 6
October 20 to November 1 for paving of the County Road 23 and County Road 6 new roundabout

The exemption relates to the the operation of any equipment in connection with construction.

Wedding at Finkle's Shore Park - 697 Main Street, Bath

The Township has granted an exemption to the Noise By-law, under general provision 2.1 and Schedule 2, Activity 2, for a private wedding at Finkle's Shore Park on Saturday, September 14 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The exemption to the Noise By-law includes:

The making of noise within the municipality which is audible to any person in a residence or vehicle other than the residence or vehicle the noise is originating from
The operation of any electronic device or group of connected electronic devices incorporating one or more loudspeakers or other electro-mechanical transducers, and intended for the production, reproduction or amplification of sound

Odessa Main Street Construction Project

The Township has granted Mulrooney's Construction an exemption to the Noise By-law under Schedule 2, Activity 5, on the following dates:

September 9 to September 10 for the Odessa Main Street Construction Project, at the intersection of Odessa Main Street and Durham Street

The exemption relates to the the operation of any equipment in connection with construction.
