Seasonal load restriction dates
- February 15 through to April 15 each year
- Seasonal load restrictions will lift on April 15, 2024.
- Weight restriction dates can be amended at any time in response to any rapid change in conditions that may affect roads.

Please note that each year we put weight restrictions on Loyalist Township roads. From 2024, the dates have been revised in line with changing climatic conditions causing earlier spring thaws. Weight restrictions will apply from February 15 to April 15 each year. Reducing load restrictions helps protect the road bed during times when the ground is soft due to thawing. Loads are restricted to five (5) tonnes per axle during the weight restriction period.
Loyalist also has the authority to amend or impose new dates in response to any rapid changes in weather.
Loyalist is aligned with the County of Lennox and Addington which also places the same weight restrictions on County-owned roads in Loyalist Township during the same period of time.
Exemptions to the by-law
Under certain circumstances, carriers can apply for exemptions to the weight restrictions.
