Becoming a Lifeguard/Swimming Instructor
Lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons is a rewarding and valuable job within your community! There are several steps required to earning your certifications before you can begin working. Loyalist Township offers prerequisite, certification, and recertification courses in Aquatic Leadership from the Lifesaving Society.
Children's swimming lessons
Loyalist Township is proud to offer the Lifesaving Society's Swim for Life® program! This program includes Parent & Tot lessons with age based progression for tots and toddlers ages 4 months to 3 years of age. Children ages 3-5 years participate in the Preschool program and advance through skill based levels. At age 5, children move into the Swimmer program and continue with skill based progression through six levels. Once completed, swimmers naturally flow into the Swim Patrol and Bronze programs to work on lifesaving skills.
Adult and youth swimming programs
Loyalist Township offers Adult lessons through the Lifesaving Society's Swim for Life® program in addition to Private lessons for adults. Youth can start their journey into lifesaving through Lifesaving Society's Swim Patrol and Bronze programs.
